Sold item appears to have been stolen
I bought a laptop earlier this year. Once I received it, I had a query regarding HDD support. I contacted the manufacturer who flagged the item up as "potentially stolen" and belonging to one of their clients. I have tried to contact the seller who is not responding. I have contacted the client company with no response as yet other than to remotely disable it. I have contacted eBay for help. They cite the 30 day return rule and refuse to help. To that end I will speak to my credit card provider to see if they can refund my money. eBay seem to be quite happy to hide behind the 30 day return rule even if, as it turns out, to be a fraudulent transaction. I will be talking to the police as I believe that eBay have facilitated a criminal act. Anybody ever had a similar problem and how did you resolve it?
