Sold for less than minimum price?
I haven't really sold anything expensive on eBay before. I had set the starting price at $500, but I had made the minimum price $800. I received a message from a buyer asking about shipping costs, and after I replied, I received a notification that the item had sold for $500. What happened? Is there anything I can do?

Mentor3 years agoYou can't be forced to ship, but if you cancel without the buyer's request to do so, you will still pay the selling fee and get a strike on your account, not to mention an unhappy buyer that may leave you negative feedback.

Mentor3 years agoNo, you had only one bidder at the starting price of $500., so he won the auction at that price. Your $800., was a Buy-it-Now price, which goes away if someone bids instead of wanting to pay that price without bidding.
You may be confusing the Buy-It-Now price with a RESERVE price, which would be the minimum an auction bidding would have to go past for someone to win.

-Please provide the eBay item number on the listing
-Confirm you used Auction format with starting price of $ 500 but had the Reserve price set for $ 800 ... I "think" that is what you are trying to say AND you think that is what you did right?
-If the auction ends with one bid and sold for $ 500 then you may have set the Buy it now price at $ 800 and NOT the Reserve price ... when a bid is placed for the staring price the Buy it now price goes away.
-What you can do if the item has actually sold (and not just a message or email stating it has because they can be scammed) is pack it and ship it.
