Yes, eBay puts funds on hold for up to 30 days for low activity selling accounts and new Sellers as well as individual sales over $ 1000. Payments on hold | eBay
You sold one item in the last 90 days. If you sell more on a regular basis payment holds will eventually be lifted.

OP1 year agoThanks for answer, I'm ebay member since nearly 20 years with 100 Positive votes , neve has a problem as buyer or seller, I never see this bad Business actitud from a Company specially eBay. The rules from this retention is until the buyer receive the item, also as I wrote the buyer receive the Item and vot in positive and as he wrote he is Happy with the item.

·1 year agoAny lawyer worth their time will tell you that what eBay is doing is both legal and normal in the industry. Your time with eBay and your feedback history are not important, and in fact make your account more of a target for hackers who benefit from the appearance of legitimacy if they are able to take over a dormant account.

OP1 year agoThanks for your comment, but I respectfully disagree.
I’ve been a loyal eBay user for over 20 years with a 100% positive rating. In this case, I sold a high-value item, provided full tracking showing the buyer received it, and even received positive feedback from the buyer confirming everything was perfect. Yet eBay is withholding nearly $3,000 for 30 days afterthe transaction is clearly completed.
This feels excessive and deeply unfair. I understand the importance of security policies, but applying a blanket 30-day hold in such a case, with no buyer complaint and verified delivery, doesn’t serve anyone — seller, buyer, or platform. It’s not just frustrating; it borders on unreasonable, and I'm sure this is not Legal.
I believe trust should go both ways. When a seller demonstrates a long-term track record of reliability, that should count for something.

·1 year agoeBay holds funds for ALL sellers on items sold for more than $1000. This is spelled out in their user agreement.
Even high volume sellers are going to have funds held for that amount. This rule is applied to EVERYONE on the site, which makes it very fair.

·1 year agoAgain, not illegal at all. If you want to leave, feel free, but you’re just flat out wrong.

While I agree in principle we also see Buyers file returns after they have left Positive Feedback for Sellers.
