WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS EBAY????
Sold a Faulty Men's Gold Chain - Broke within 12 hours, sent hollow chain, not advertised?
BEEN ON EBAY FOR 25 YEARS, BOUGHT OVER 1,000 THINGS... PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING & TAKE CARE OF A LOYAL BUYER EBAY. BEEN HERE SINCE THE BEGINNING!
I have an appeal open with eBay but have not heard back from them in over a month? I was assured how involved they were going to be in this process and resolution but they have been absent and non responsive besides 1 phone call 5 weeks ago?
I was told they would repair the chain and offer me some restitution $300 - $500 in place of the full refund via the authenticity guarantee. After taking the chain to 4 different jewelers I was told it would be $85 - $150 to repair the chain and it would be shipped away for a week but would return with a noticeable blob where the chain would be lasered to mend the broken pieces. Some jewelers didn't want to work on it, saying it would happen again, and all smiled with a little chuckle about it being hollow gold... Again a fact that I think should be disclosed in all gold chain auctions! I think that info would have prevented this purchase and prevented this breakage...
This case was denied with no explanation? I don't believe that to be the eBay way? I purchased this chain for over $1600 in good faith with the hope of wearing it for a very, very long time. Upon receiving it, it appeared to be as light as costume jewelry & hollow gold, a fact that I believe should have been explained in the auction details, very standard practice, is the chain solid or hollow? The chain was worn for 12 hours before breaking, again something that should not happen. My other 2 chains have been around my neck for both 30 & 14 years. I weighed the chain which was supposed to be 11.8 grams. I found he chain to be 11 grams and with gold being one of the most expensive things, that is a big deal and an error. The seller was very quick and courteous in our conversation, and I believe this to be an honest mistake in the quality or production of the chain. I'm requesting a refund please so that I may purchase another chain better suited to be a worn daily and for a long time.

OP2 years agoThanks for the reply... I have followed all the steps and guidelines, first the seller, then eBay, we are now in the appeal process under eBay Authenticity Guarantee... Doesn't seem like buyers are protected in this case despite identifying quality and information points lacking in the auction and item. Its a shame... This item and auction has been a complete and expensive waste of time, and money.
