social security number extortion
So I just got hit with you sold something, but if you want your money you have to provide your social. I had not prior knowledge of this. No email, no notification as I posted. So now I must provide my social to them.
this sounds like a form of extortion to me. Now I know everyone will say, it's fine what are you whining about? It's not so much the policy, but the fact that I didn't know until they have my money held hostage.
I am completely done with Ebay. Facebook marketplace did the exact same thing. I thought EBAY was better than that. I guess I was wrong.

Mentor1 year agoThe IRS requires you to provide your SSN to any payment provider not only for identity verification but also to meet 1099-K requirements. Any site that uses a payment provider will have the same requirement.

All payment processors have to follow the law, they don’t request the info on a whim.
