Question

My payouts are now on hold until I give my full social security number. Is there anyway to receive my payout without giving my full social security number? Itâ€™s not something I just want to be handing out

@mial-3830 You are required to provide your social security number in two situations: You are doing something that is reportable to the IRS or your stateâ€™s tax department; and/or You are engaged in a financial transaction that is subject to the Customer Identification Program. This is a provision of the USA Patriot Act which requires financial institutions to verify your identity . Both of those reasons apply to Ebay sellers.

eBay is legally required to issue tax documents to sellers that meet the required threshold, so no.
