Why does EBAY need to have my SSID? I don’t understand… I feel a little odd just putting that number out there for eBay to have. Don’t know who’s behind that screen over in the HQ or help center. Anyone have an answer? They won’t let me have my money without it.

Mentor7 months agoALL sellers have provided their social security numbers. It is federal law and eBay complies. You will be sent at tax form at the end of the year if applicable.

It is to comply with federal know your customer requirements. You cannot get paid without providing your SS#.
No one sees it unless what you enter is not valid - it is encrypted. I’m not sure a human even looks at it when it is not valid - the system probably just generates the mailed W9 request form automatically.
