So buyer protection is limited even on poor quality items?
Very disappointed with both the product quality and the seller’s handling of the issue.
The ring was delivered on December 18 but remained wrapped and unopened until December 25. It was worn from December 26 through January 28, a total of 34 days of normal, everyday wear. The seller’s return policy is 40 days, and the ring failed on day 41, essentially right after the policy window closed.
This ring cost $80, which reasonably carries an expectation of durability beyond a few weeks of normal use.
The ring was worn under ordinary conditions with no misuse, impact, alteration, or abnormal wear. Given the short timeframe, the failure appears to be a quality or workmanship issue, not buyer-caused physical damage.
I requested an exchange, not a refund, which I believe is a reasonable resolution. The seller refused, labeling the issue as “physical damage†without explaining how normal wear over 34 days qualifies as buyer-caused.
I posted feedback based on this and his response was I made unreasonable requests. Asking for him to stand behind his poorly made product is unreasonable? I did do a formal request for a placement but it was closed and I can't appeal.
More so a vent here because I have no other recourse. In all my years as a buyer and seller, I have never encountered a problem like this.

The eBay Money Back Guarantee covers buyers for 30 days from the delivery date. After that you need to contact your funding source.

OP7 months agoThank you. I will give it a go. It can't hurt - I'm already out the money with a broken ring.
