Sketchy buyer

by a user with zero feedback today, including an auction that went for more than I'd expected. For a minute I was just relieved they'd actually paid... but they quickly sent a message asking me to add a lot number to their official shipping address. Then I realized that the buyer name doesn't match the shipping address either.
I was planning to buy the shipping label through ebay and don't know if they even would allow a change, but would really like their official approval before shipping them anywhere. One of the items is original art I'm terrified to send out into a scam where it gets lost and they cancel payment somehow.

OP1 month agoThank you. Printing the ebay label and adding the the lot # by hand sounds like a good option. Sending to "sister" with different name still worries me, but I guess ebay allowed the account to be set up that way. Ugh

It's hard to say if someone is untrustworthy or just new. High bidding, address issues, and other things like are symptoms of both. Treat them all the same, usually.
Since this is only adding an APT / Unit #. You will still be covered by eBay's Seller Protections if you add that. Print the label and add the missing Lot # to it by hand.
If this was a change to the street address, city, state or zip: I would tell you to contact the Buyer and tell them you need to cancel the order, create it as a listing for them, and they will need to re-buy with the correct address at checkout. I do that frequently. Unfortunately, there's currently no better way. It works.
I hope that helps! If you're too nervous about it, go ahead and cancel and list as Buy it Now for them to checkout with their updated address. I don't think it's needed though... but I don't know how much they overpaid. You do.

Mentor1 month agoYou are required to ship to the address Ebay provided with the notification of your sale. Do NOT ship elsewhere or else you will lose the item and all seller protection.
Does the Ebay username of the person that sent you the message match the Ebay username of your buyer in the order details in your seller hub?

OP1 month agoYes the username that contacted me is the same as the purchaser. But the buyer name does not match name on shipping address.
They say the address is correct, but needs to have a lot number added and it's her sister's place. Auction went for about double what I expected, plus bought one of my other highest priced items with zero feedback and alarm bells are ringing to me.
Is there a phone number where I can actually talk to an ebay representative before proceeding?
