Silver eagle scam
Buy-it-now item purchased and requested cancel within 5 minutes was declined saying it already shipped via usps. Seller states location as country of Turkey. This is undoubtedly a SCAM.

Counterfeit items are not allowed to be listed on eBay at all. No one is authorized to sell counterfeit items. That fact alone does not stop some people from trying to sell them, however.
The problem is that unscrupulous or uninformed sellers can list genuine items and then deliver counterfeit items.
It is not always possible to look at a listing and know in advance exactly what, if anything, the seller intends to deliver. For one thing, a scammer can simply copy a listing from a genuine seller, using a genuine photo of a genuine item.
Except for a few specific categories of items that go through authentication, eBay never sees what the seller ships or the what the buyer receives, so there is nothing for eBay to check unless someone complains about what was received by invoking eBay's money back guarantee.
Sellers are responsible for the descriptions they provide, and buyers should not assume that eBay screens the listings in advance.
As long as counterfeits exist and there are folks trying to sell them, buyers will still have to be on the lookout for them, and avoid deals that are obviously too-good-to-be-true, whether they are being sold by accounts registered overseas or by domestic sellers wittingly or unwittingly buying counterfeits from overseas to sell here.
Buyers that doubt their ability to distinguish a genuine article from a counterfeit one should only consider purchasing from trustworthy sellers that have an established reputation for delivering exactly what was described, and should avoid deals that are too-good-to-be-true, or deals that are offered by inexperienced sellers that might disappear soon after the transaction is made, or else be prepared to get items authenticated by trusted sources within thirty days to be able to take advantage of eBay's money back guarantee.

OP8 months agoThank you for the detailed reply. I only realized the possibility of a counterfeit after the purchase and fully investigating the seller.
The most concerning issue is that Ebay does not offer a buyer control cancelation window/count down timer/ purchase pause ..etc.. to allow for accidental or timely purchase retraction on buy-it-now items. The logic of my seller utilizing the "already shipped" declination option, to deny my cancelation request is absurd. Shipping would be physically impossible for a Turkish citizen to ship an item via USPS in that short of time. The item would have to transit PTT (Posta ve Telgraf Teşkilatı) and customs before receiving a USPS tracking number.
Ebay could protect its consumer and itself by stopping this SCAM with a minor change to its buy-it-now or seller cancelation denial policy.

Some sellers may be drop shipping; if so, only the seller may know if the order can be canceled or not if the seller is using a fulfillment service or a distant warehouse. In that situation, it may make sense that the buyer not be able to cancel if the order is on its way even if it has not gotten an official acceptance scan from a shipping service.
Buyers can protect themselves by not placing an order until the buyer is willing to commit after having checked all the things they buyer would want to check in order to determine whether to cancel or not.
Otherwise, the buyer still has the money back guarantee if the item is not received and there is no tracking showing delivery or arrives but is not as described.
If the seller provides "false tracking" that shows delivery but nothing arrives, follow up here for further instructions.
