Should I report buyer for false claim
Summary: kb1155 suspects a buyer of fabricating a damage claim by sending a potentially AI-generated photo showing broken glasses. They have reported the buyer but will not take further action unless the buyer persists with the claim. disneyshopper advises requesting comprehensive photos of the damage and packaging, and suggests filing an insurance claim with the carrier if a return is requested.
I have a buyer that messaged me yesterday claiming that all four glasses in the package arrived shattered, I immediately responded, apologized and politely requested a group photo showing all four broken glasses together with the shipping box so I could process the issue, the buyer has not responded and has gone silent. The single close-up photo she did send shows clear abnormalities indicating it is a fake digitally manipulated AI generated photo designed to fabricate damage to force a refund I suspect fraud. I want the report to flag her account, but I won't pursue this any further unless she pushes forward with the fake damage claim. Will she be notified of this report about her claim?

OP1 month agoShould I go ahead and report her to eBay so they can flag her account, even if she doesn't actually end up asking for a refund? I feel that it's important to get this on record, so eBay is aware of what she's trying to do. That way if she tries to pull the same scam on another seller down the road ,there will already be a clear paper trail showing she done this before.

Mentor1 month agoInsist that she produce a photo showing all 4 broken items, plus the shipping label, plus the inner packaging. If she files a returns request for Item Not as Described, ebay will ask for photos. You refund her, and then go to USPS.COM (or whatever carrier you used) to file an insurance claim, uploading all of the photos she submitted.
