Should Ebay be able to refund to the buyer purchases that the buyer knew was not the right item

OP3 years agoI am selling my collection of British TV DVDs that are all in the Pal format. I state this in the title of each item. In the description I state that they will not play on most American DVD players and that a Region Free or Code Free player is needed to view these region 2 Pal format DVD's I have sold perhaps 100 of these with no problems. Early on I would contact the buyer to be sure that they had the prober player but soon quit that as I felt that most people understood what they were buying. Now I have my first buyer that cannot read and even sent Ebay photos of his TV that said that the disk could not be played. I am sure he did not read the listing , or even the title of the item he purchased. I never heard from him, instead he went to Ebay and asked for a refund and Ebay gave it to him. Now I am stuck and I am sure I will get a negative feedback because the buyer can not read. I do not think this is fair. I have about 3,500 feedbacks at 100% positive and now it looks like that will change. I like selling on Ebay but perhaps I should just give my stuff to the Goodwill and get out of Ebay. What can I do?

When the buyer filed a Return Request through Ebay, you could have approved the return and sent the buyer a prepaid shipping label in order for the buyer to ship the items back to you. You would have issued the refund after you received the returned items.
Why did that not happen?

Mentor3 years agoIf the buyer filed a Returns Request with the reason Not as Described, you should have accepted the return and supplied a return shipping label. If you refused, ebay can indeed refund the buyer and charge your account for it, and not require return of the item.
