I have been shipping sold items without going through Ebay's shipping process?

Is that a mistake?

If so, what are the ramifications?

There is no problem doing that, as long as you upload the tracking numbers, preferably the same day. You also want to make sure you are getting the same or better discounts.

What exactly do you mean? Are you receiving payment through eBay and then shipping via USPS/UPS/FedEx?
