shipping service not listed
When listing some items, first class was the default option for shipping - so I used it. Now when they have sold, first class isn't offered, even when the shipping service window is expanded. So now I am paying more - and eating the difference - and my buyers aren't getting the shipping that they selected.

You need to pick USPS Ground Advantage and NOT First class shipping. Use accurate weights and dimensions on the items in a box they will ship in ... you may have to estimate box size. Use the Calculated setting and Buyers will pay your more accurate amounts for you to purchase the label with.
There is more good news too, a new Seller Protection eBay recently implements:
eBay launched a new Seller Protection for sellers who print their labels through eBay and get a carrier Acceptance scan within their Handling time. If a Seller loses a Buyer’s claim that they did not receive their item and refunded the Buyer then eBay will reimburse the Seller IF the package is delivered later and tracking confirms the delivery.

OP7 months agoThank you for your input, I forgot to mention that the items would fit in an envelope, that was the reason I chose First Class. For larger items that require a box, I do use Ground Advantage or Priority Mail.

Mentor7 months agoIf your items fit in an envelope, ebay has the ebay Standard Envelope, but that is only for items in specific categories (postcards, trading cards, postage stamps, currency & coin, seeds, patches, decals...that's what I recall from memory). Otherwise, if you use first class for other items, there will be no tracking, so you use postage stamps or pay at the post office. If the buyer files an Item Not Received case, you will end up paying item price + shipping since you cannot prove delivery.

eBay labels do NOT allow you to print regular stamp postage. While some categories can use ESE (eBay Standard Envelope) in general terms if an item doesn't conform to ESE then you need to use a bubble mailer or box but still use USPS Ground Advantage for weights less than 16 ounces. eBay standard envelope | eBay
