Shipping rates overpriced

Question

Hello. Shipping costs are too high lately on Ebay. Up to four times the price of the item, which discourages me from making my purchases.

evry1nositswindy · Answer

The USPS raised prices 4 times last year. It is not under the sellers' control. Shop by total price, item + shipping. Shipping cost has nothing to do with the cost of the item.

Also, a $5 pillow costs more to ship than a $5 mug. The USPS tacks on a dimensional fee for larger items and another for longer items. There is an additional fee for using a tube.

Shipping prices are based on the service selected, the weight of the package, the dimensions of the package, and the distance from the seller to the buyer. There are dimensional weight surcharges if the package exceeds 1728 cubic inches, or exceeds 22 inches long.

Ebay does not set shipping prices since Ebay does not ship anything.

Sellers determine the amount they have to charge to ship the item.

Also, shipping charges do not correlate to the price of the item.
