Shipping prices
I've noticed that on some items, the shipping price is almost as expensive as the item itself. Why is that?
Why don't the sellers just use the shipping calculator or weigh the item and calculate shipping that way.
It seems like they should just raise the price instead. Am I missing something?
Thank you!

OP9 months agoThank you. It seems people are charging double for some items. I buy and sell Longaberger baskets and accessories and sometimes I see a basket for $49.99 and shipping for 42.99. I don't understand why they don't just charge $100 for the basket and ship free! Or - they could charge the value of the basket and have the calculator figure out what the shipping would be. The baskets are not heavy.
Anyway, thank you.

No, you are not missing anything. Some Sellers do not understand the Shipping end of a transaction let alone have experience shipping things in general.
We have numerous Sellers come here asking why do they have to purchase a label when the Buyer paid for it??? Yep, they fail to understand the Buyer paid THEM the money to BUY the label and stick it on the package. Not sure how they think the label will magically appear on the package because the Buyer paid for it ... maybe they think that they take their unlabeled package to the post office and tell the clerk who it's for and the clerk prints the label!?! Truth is stranger than fiction.
Some Sellers bump the shipping price up as an additional profit center and still others so that they don't lose money on the shipping part.
