Shipping posted in my listing.

Ebay automatically listed my shipping at 103 dollars in my listing. As I have not sold anything on Ebay for about 5 years and this is something new to me.

I had checked with Fed Ex, UPS , and USPS in my area before listing my product and found a price range from 99$ to 175$; so in my item description I listed shipping at 135$ with me paying anything above that amount and refunding the difference if shipping was less than 135$.

Can someone please explain how the shipping price works: Do the major companies have built in discounts to Ebay?

Not a good strategy.

Use Ebay's calculated shipping:

In the Shipping section of your listing, select Calculated: Cost varies by buyer location.
Next to Services, select Calculate Shipping.
In Package details in the Shipping Calculator, enter your package type, dimensions, and weight. If you're selling an irregularly shaped item, estimate its dimensions by measuring a box you can fit it in.
In the Your details section, enter your ZIP code and any handling fees.
Select Calculate shipping.
Select the shipping services you want to offer, and drag them into the order you want buyers to see them.
Select Offer shipping services.
Complete your listing.
