Shipping policy?
Summary: elizjarn_86 shared challenges faced after transitioning to a pro seller account. They expressed frustration with new requirements for setting precise shipping details for each listing and having to manually enter book information for listings, which previously auto-populated from a photo. They also mentioned confusion about a payment method policy, despite receiving payments successfully. They seek help to streamline the listing process on their platform.
Hello,
I started my shop a few months ago. Everything went quickly and smoothly for awhile. Now apparently I need to set a shipping policy and I can't post without one. That had been preset to media mail and worked fine. Now I can't add new inventory without adding the precise weight and dimensions each time? It's also asking for a payment method policy, which I thought was already set. I've gotten payments to my bank account, including one today.
I also used to get listing drafts generated just by taking a picture of the book's cover. Now I have to scan the bar code. For older books without a bar code, I have to type in a lot of information by hand. This takes a lot of time and does not seem worth the effort for books that are priced at $10 or lower.
I guess when I signed up a pro seller account, eBay took the training wheels off and made every element of creating a listing far harder than it had been.
What gives?
I need to be able to list!
Thx
Elizabeth J

If you are going to list a lot of items, then Business Policies is the way to go.
You only need a few:
1) Shipping policy
a) Media Mail calculated
b) Ground Advantage calculated for anything that wont ship Media Mail
2) Return Policy
a) 30 day returns accepted
b) No returns (I don't recommend this)
3) Payment Policy
a) eBay Managed Payments
Then you select your policies instead of selecting each detail everytime. It saves time.
Set up and manage your policies here. Give them titles that you understand
https://www.ebay.com/bp/manage
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dimensions for the package should be close, but for books shipping media mail, dimensions won't change the shipping.
I would ball park 9x7x2
You need to know if it's up to 1 lb, 1-2 lbs, 2-3 lbs, etc and enter 1, 2, or 3 lbs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One option for listing is to use your phone, do a SEARCH using the cover, then "Sell One Like This"
OR
On desk top, create a blank draft with basic information
Books category
Business policies
weight
then make 20 copies of that draft
Add photos to a draft from your app and go from there.
