shipping options
Hello, I am trying to find a more economical way to ship small parts. They weigh about 2 or 3 ounces and could go in a envelope or padded envelope. So far Fedex seems to be the best option but when I sell a part for $7.50 and need to charge $6.80 or more for shipping people do not want to pay it. Help!

OP5 months agoI greatly appreciate your suggestions on shipping solutions. A few of my items would be able to be shipped using the Ebay envelope, however, I can not find where to use it in my listings.

Mentor5 months agoThe pins I sell all weigh less than 4 ounces, so I ship using USPS Ground Advantage. Since I am shipping from the west coast, in order to make my shipping look for inviting, I pass the discount onto the buyer, but I charge a $1 handling fee to cover the cost of the bubble mailer.
The ebay Standard Envelope can only be used for specific items, which include sports trading cards, postcards, currency & coin, seeds, decals. There are restrictions on the size of the envelope as well as the thickness and no heavier than 3 ounces.

For items that light, FedEx is usually not the best fit.
USPS is where most sellers save money on small parts. Ground Advantage through eBay labels is often cheaper and still gives you tracking

If your items are flat and under $20, look into eBay Standard Envelope. It’s much lower cost, just keep in mind tracking is basic

Also consider rolling some of the shipping cost into the item price. Buyers tend to respond better to lower visible shipping rather than a low item price with high shipping
Keep your packaging as light and thin as possible to stay in the lowest rate tier
