Shipping labels
I would like some information on shipping labels. Currently I ship via USPS and pay their charge. Ebay says if I buy a shipping label from them it will cost less for me to ship an item. I'm having trouble how Ebay does that without losing money, or the Post Office loses money, I'm not to sure which. I just need some clarification. Does anyone have any experience with shipping labels that could clear this up for me. Are shipping labels worth it? TIA.

I am in year 11 of Selling and I buy my labels exclusively through eBay and get their discount on all the USPS services offered except USPS Media Mail.
In basic terms Sellers pay the USPS Commercial rates that many businesses get to do when they open their own USPS account as a Business. eBay has done that for their Sellers through negotiation.
The other advantage is that tracking is automatically uploaded to the Sold item for your protection.
Late last year eBay also launched a new Seller protection for Sellers who use their label system, here is how it is described:
If the following criteria is met eBay will reimburse you if the package is eventually delivered after you have refunded a Buyer through an eBay claim that they did not receive their package AND delivery is confirmed through tracking on eBay. eBay launched this new Seller protection in late 2025.
1. Seller prints the shipping label through eBay
2. Seller ships and gets a carrier scan within their Handling time
3. Buyer files a claim through eBay that they did not receive their package AND the Seller refunds the Buyer through the eBay claim
4. The package is delivered later and after the Buyer has been refunded, eBay tracking confirms the delivery
