Shipping LabelPayout Dispute
I sold an item for $750. Buyer was to pay shipping. When I listed item I was told to choose through the options of what I assumed where similar items. And it was ,even the color just no case. The buyer paid and had label made. I printed it took it to post office and was told the package didn’t match the label. So I messaged the buyer and he said he did the estimate calculation himself. So next day I took to different post office. They accepted it and delivered it my house next day. Was told same as before, label didn’t match the dimensions and weight. Informed the buyer and created a second shipping label. When the post office returned the package it told me the dimensions and weight the label had and what it actually was. I made second label based off the paper that the post office sent back with it. Got it sent out through FedEx. 2 days before i was going to be able to access my payment I was charged $400 on top of the $97 and $42 original shipping labels.

That sounds frustrating.
When "the Buyer pays for shipping", that money is given to you/the seller.
- Then you pay for the shipping label.
- The amount the buyer pays for shipping could be more or less than the actual final shipping cost, it is based on the settings chosen in your listing when you created it.
- The amount you pay for shipping is based on the actual final shipping details you enter before you click to print a label.
Be sure to always enter the correct weight and dimensions when you list your item.
The seller is responsible for creating an accurate shipping amount on the listing.
Don't use eBay's estimates on weight and dimensions of a package. weigh and measure the item yourself.
The guitar case would make a huge difference in the dimensions and weight of the package.
If the First Label was never scanned by USPS, you can get a refund for it.
The Second label appears to have been scanned, but you can try to cancel that label too, USPS will decline if the item was scanned.
Here's how to cancel (or void) an unused shipping label you purchased on eBay:
- Go to Manage shipping labels: https://www.ebay.com/ship/lmng/labels-history/my-ebay
- Find the item you'd like to cancel the shipping label for, then from the Actions column, select CANCEL.
- Choose your reason for canceling the label.
- Select Cancel shipping label.
You have 28 days to cancel a label. The refund will come about 21 days after you cancel.

FedEx is notorious for charges after the fact. Don't use FedEx unless you know exactly what you are doing.
I'm sorry that happened.

Mentor9 months agoYou must always weigh and measure the dimensions yourself. Never rely on ebay estimates.
You can void/cancel the unused labels here:

If you went ahead and used the $400 label, then sorry, but that's on you.
