Shipping label
When I sold my item I purchased a shipping label on eBay. I was unable to print the label so I paid for shipping at the post office. I never use the label yet a week later eBay charged me an additional $2 Plus because the package was overweight. How can they charge me additional money when I didn't even use the label?

Mentor9 months ago@cwestx That is a good question. Are you sure that the charge was not tied to the label you purchased at the post office? Did you upload the tracking for the post office label to the sold item?
FIRST cancel the label that you did not use>
You can void/ cancel the label within 28 days of purchasing it from the actions drop down menu next to the label on this page>
https://www.ebay.com/ship/labels/seller-hub
Then the postal service will refund you in about 3-4 weeks on your all transactions page here>
https://www.ebay.com/mes/transactionlist?sh=true
NEXT dispute the adjustment>
To check on shipping labels, go here: https://www.ebay.com/ship/lmng
Some of your shipping labels have cost adjustments.
If you think these adjustments are incorrect, you can contact USPS Customer Care at 1-844-819-5187 or verifypostagehelp@usps.gov to open a dispute. Make sure you have the IMPB and Revenue Assurance ID below to identify the adjustment. USPS will respond within 5-15 business days.

OP9 months agoThanks for the reply. Absolutely sure the additional charge was from eBay because I was notified by email from eBay prior to the additional charge. My question again, though, is how in the world there would be an additional charge for extra weight if the label was never used?
That said I will follow your directions you kindly attached to your original reply. Many thanks

Mentor9 months ago@cwestx USPS does bill cost adjustments through eBay. Since I can't see your account I can only guess at that the problem is that you didn't cancel the unused label right away.

OP9 months agoHey thanks for the reply. Even though I'm going to disagree with you I want you to appreciate it. First, the post office didn't know that the shipment had anything to do with ebay. Remember I didn't use the label that I paid for at eBay, but bought a brand new shipping label at the post office. So there was no connection. Second I did not cancel the label and that's shame on me but I am still confused as to how a label that was never used, even though it's paid for, had an increase of two plus dollars. eBay should know how much the shipping costs would be for a book that they had shipped literally hundreds of times. There should never have been an increase. Anyway, for $9 and some change it's not worth the time and effort. I will be more careful in the future and again I want you to know I appreciate your time

Mentor9 months ago@cwestx. I do agree that it's very odd that you were charged a surcharged on a label that wasn't used. I still recommend using the info I provided to dispute it.
As for eBay knowing the shipping prices on items the algorithm that suggests shipping prices based on other listings is very bad.
Always weigh and measure items and use buyer pays > calculated shipping on the listing.
