Shipping irregular shaped packages - USPS vs. FedEx
Hello, I just sold a poster, and need to ship it in a 31" long x 3" diameter tube. I did check the box that says "irregular package" as I should. After that, I see the rates listed below. USPS offers 18% discount on eBay for $17.22. FedEx offers an 82% discount, or $6.90, which seems the obvious choice. My question is if FedEx is considering the irregular package already in that rate, or are they going to charge me an additional $25 "Non-standard shipment fee" on top of that. Thank you!

Mentor8 months ago@daddyo1959 Fed Ex will bill you more later. USPS may also bill you more later but Fed Ex adds more surcharges.
eBay's listing tool only adds $4.50 for irregular package
The USPS charges nonstandard fees for long packages, adding surcharges for lengths over 22 inches, with specific fees for 22-30 inches (around $4.50 for Ground Advantage, more for Priority) and over 30 inches (around $10 for Ground Advantage, more for Priority)
