Shipping help - with package weight and dimensions

I am a new seller and wanted to ensure I am not making any rookie mistakes, especially with shipping costs, so please forgive me if this has been asked before.

I am presently selling small items and I am using the UCGOU Bubble Mailers 6 x 10 inch (and the product dimensions according to Amazon is 10 x 6 x 0.01 inches) to ship them through USPS Ground Advantage and I am confused about what the package weight and package dimensions for them. For example, I added an item into the bubble mailer and I weighed it, am I to take the dimensions of the bubble mailer with the item in it? When adding in my values, I see there is an estimate of 10.0 x 8.0 x 4.0 inches, but my bubble mailer is 6 x 10 inches, what do I do?

Update: I think I figured it out., hope I am, someone please correct me if I am wrong.

So, I placed the item in the bubble mailer and I took the measurements like this:

Length: Measure the longest side of the package.
Width: Measure the side perpendicular to the length.
Height: Measure from the base of the package to the top.
Weight: with the item in the bubble mailer.
