shipping fees
I am losing a lot of money because ebay doesn't charge the buyer enough for shipping. My scale and the one at the PO is accurate. I will start adding a lot to the weight of the item just to cover the cost of shipping. I typically lose $5 -$8 or more on shipping.

I see that over the life of your account you have sold around 2,400 items. Has this problem just started for you?
On this page in your Account settings make sure you are not set to share your eBay discounted label costs with your customers: Shipping Preferences
That setting is in the Carrier rate settings section.
Since you have sold quite a bit in the past I assume that when you measure your items for shipping you are adding additional inches to allow for the box the items will ship in as well as using a weight that includes the box and packing material weights.
