Mentor1 month ago@loriemj Make sure that you are using Buyer Pays> calculated shipping and enter the package dimensions and weight when creating the listing. Round up to the next full inch and the next full pound. Packages over 1 cubic foot do have a dimesional surcharge with all carriers.
That sounds like a dimensional weight surcharge, shipping prices are charged based on the package size not just weight and distance to the buyer. You can try disputing the charged with Fed Ex
Only eBay customer service can file the dispute since they are the Fed Ex customer. I recommend contacting CS on social media to ask them to do this. Keep in mind that Fed Ex does sometimes add incorrect surcharges but there are CORRECT surcharges that you can read about on the Fed Ex website.
Personally if I have an item that is too large or heavy to ship via USPS then I use UPS and buy the label from Pirateship. Pirateship helps with insurance claims and surcharge disputes. UPS does have a list of valid surcharges on their website too. UPS does not add surcharges as often as Fed Ex does.
Social media is the best way to contact customer service for this issue.
Here's how to contact eBay general customer service. ( I feel that it's ok to use this option since it does affect your bottom line.)
Click this link> https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold?id=4814
Then Type PAYOUT In the chat bot box on the lower right.
Then AGENT after the bot responds. You might have to repeat those steps.
Or you can also contact customer service by sending a PRIVATE message on social media. Customer service verifies your identity before responding.

Mentor1 month agoSounds like you received a charge back for postage due. You need to open the shipping details and see what these are for, but usually it is because you made a mistake when you actually create the label or used a box not/envelope for the wrong service.

Mentor1 month agoNeed more details.
Were you back charged for postage shortages or are you just paying more for postage than your buyer is paying?

OP1 month agoIt says underpaid shipping fees. This was after the buyer had already paid the shipping fee when they purchased the item.

Mentor1 month agoThe buyer pays whatever you have entered on the listing. You pay the shipping charge based on what you are entering into the shipping label information when purchasing the actual label. These two amounts may or may not be equal depending on if you correctly entered the dimensions and weight of the packaged ready to ship item into the listing and if you used flat rate shipping or calculated shipping. There can also be a difference if you allowed eBay to determine the shipping information when making the listing since they use category averages and not you specific item.
