shipping fee
when selling your item and the shipping cost is say $ 7.00, how much of this amount do I as a seller recieve after printing the label, and is there another way to mail it directly to the buyer and not buy an ebay shipping label?

OP6 months agoThank You for the reply, I was asking due to the one item I have sold before now, I ended up Paying an extra $15.00, for shipping, SO any profit from the sale was wiped out by my being not very smart.

The best way to avoid shipping cost surprises is to use calculated shipping. You need to weigh and measure the item in the box it will ship in with the packing material that you will use. If you enter accurate info, the shipping will be correct. You can add a handling charge to cover packing materials and fees, but don't overdo it.
Instead of starting auctions at $.99, start them at the lowest price you will be happy to get. Then if you get 1 bid, you're happy, more and you're happier. Then you can charge realistic shipping - buyers hate it when the shipping is too high - especially buyers that buy a lot since they know about what the shipping should cost.

You can decide to charge your buyer exactly the amount that you will pay for a label, or you can charge them a bit more by not sharing all of your discount with them. So how much of the shipping you receive after paying for the label depends on what you decide to charge. You do pay eBay’s final value fee on the shipping - most items are 13.6%. So if you charge your buyers the exact cost of the label, you lose money on the label. Or you just have to look at those fees as part of the item fees.
You can buy your label from any provider - just make sure you add the tracking # into the sold order so it is marked shipped and eBay can see when it is delivered. Most 3rd party providers charge the same amount for usps shipping. ups and fedex discounts vary.
