Shipping delay per customer request, after purchase
Summary: stampedict is facing a dilemma with a customer who requested a shipping delay to benefit from combined shipping savings on eBay. However, eBay's system penalizes late shipments, which presents a challenge since the request was made after the initial payment. lisa5768 suggests informing the buyer about the requirement to adhere to the handling time and offers a solution to cancel and relist the item, allowing the customer to repurchase alongside other items. stampedict also shared frustration with eBay's customer support.
Hello. So, a customer asked me to delay shipping so he can continue shopping for a few days in my store and take advantage of combined-shipping savings. The problem is that he asked for this favor after he made a payment on the intitial item. Because eBay does not provide the handles to adjust delivery time after purchase, this means that I will be penalized for late shipment. Unless anyone here knows of a workaround. If not, I'll say this is a looser flaw, for sellers as well as for eBay.
I tried to reach an eBay human and couldn't. The AI assistant was worthless. It did not understand my question and wasted 15 min of my time.
Thank you, anticipatedly.

If you do not ship within your handling time you will get dinged for a late shipment. Depending on your sales volume one late shipment might not be an issue, however if you do not sell much it could bring your late shipment percentage to below standard.
What you can do is message the buyer and let them know eBay requires you to ship within your handling time and you are unable to delay shipping. Ask if they want you to cancel the sale and have you list the item again so they can repurchase with the other items.
You can cancel the sale as buyer requested, hold the item for them and list it again.
