Shipping date: 4 months from now
Summary: laxe-2740 expressed concerns about a package purchased on eBay with a tracking number that doesn't provide shipping information. The seller claimed that the item is in transit and mentioned issues with eBay's non-trackable label. rfmtm and eastlaneave advised opening an 'Item Not Received' case, explaining eBay's maximum delivery time policies. laxe-2740 reported back that they have contacted eBay, and the seller has until September 4th to respond.
Hello, community. I'm writing here because I haven't found a way to contact an eBay agent.
I bought an item on July 31st, and the shipping information on eBay says that I cannot do anything or ask for any help until December 16th.
When I tried to track the package using the tracking number, I wasn't able to get any information from Canada Post. It says:
“We didn’t find an item associated with this number. Find out why. You can also edit this number.”
I tried contacting the seller, but he said:
“They are saying they process international shipments differently. Sometimes the information does not update for 2–3 business days.”
He also said:
“I was at the post office where I sent the item. I spoke with the worker to inquire about the status of the shipment. They said everything is fine. The only thing is that eBay automatically created a non-trackable label, which is the first time I've seen something like that. It's terrible that they didn't give me any choice.”
And finally:
“Like I mentioned earlier, I went to the location where I sent it. It wasn't really them. I bought the label on eBay. Never had this issue before, but they didn't give me any choice about whether I wanted tracking or not this time. The good news is that it is in transit, and since it's a small item, it could be in your country's customs any time next week. Just disregard Wed. Dec. 16 (it is just an automatic date). Customs will contact you by phone or email regarding duties for sure (there is your phone number on the shipping information). At this point, nobody can cancel the shipment.”
What do you make of this? Should I believe him?
In this case, how can I contact eBay? I can't believe that nobody will be able to tell me anything until December 16th and that I just have to wait for the package to magically appear.
I don't live on the Moon, so I don't understand how a small package could possibly take over four months to get here. It's not like I'm unreachable by plane.
Thank you, community.

Regardless of what your seller says, eBay only allows 40 days maximum for presale items.
There's no valid eBay sale with a 4-month delivery.
TODAY,
1) Open an "Item Not Received Case". You can do that right here by clicking on the photo of your item and following the steps: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/-/reporting-item-didnt-receive?id=4042
(If it is not yet time for a case to be opened, it will give you the exact date after you click the photo.)
You will be able to select whether you want the Item or a Refund
-- You have 30 days from the estimated delivery date to open a case)
2) You can check the status of your case here:
https://www.ebay.com/help/ip?topicId=4667
The seller must respond within 3 business days to provide a delivery update, offer a replacement, or give you a refund. If the seller doesn't respond after 72 hours, ask eBay to Step In. You must do this before 21 days after the case was opened.

Mentor2 weeks agoIs the estimated delivery date from the original listing you purchased from, not the one that is there now on the listing? Regardless, ebay only allows it to be 30 days maximum. Sounds like you seller is trying to string you along past the expiration date to file a Not Received case. File one immediately. If to late you will have to file one through the payment processor.

Mentor2 weeks agoDoes tracking show the item was shipped?
Is it past the estimated delivery date shown on the original listing you purchased from? If so did you open a Not Received dispute? If so, has it been more than three days since you did so?
laxe-2740
OP2 weeks agoAccording to eBay, tracking has been available since August 4th. However, the tracking number provided does not show any shipping information. Canada Post says that they cannot find an item associated with this number. The seller has told me that the shipping service used is non-trackable.
No, it is not past the estimated delivery date shown by eBay, which is December 16th.
No, I haven't opened a “Not Received” dispute yet. I'm trying to contact eBay first, while trusting the seller's word and giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Mentor2 weeks ago@laxe-2740 That's the order number. I need the eBay Item Number for the listing.
The eBay Item Number is in the URL and
here: https://www.ebay.com/mys/active in Gray, under the title
On the app, it's easiest to find in the 'About this item' section of the listing.

Ok, that listing has 1 day handling time.
Was the seller shipping directly to you in Colombia?
It does show a very long period before delivery.....
It sounds like customer service is helping you now.
Report back with what they say after Sept 4th
