Shipping costs
How can shipping costs be so high? Items that are asking $100-150+++ for the shipment of an item that I know doesn’t cost that much because I have sold and shipped similar. Is there no policies that make sure that buyers are not taken advantage of on shipping costs. If you want to make sure that an item sells for what you want can’t you make reserves required instead of astronomical shipping costs? Just look at golf clubs requiring $100 plus dollars for shipping. That is primarily what I sell and have NEVER had to pay that for shipping.

·2 years agoHow long has it been since you shipped a golf club?
From my location in Florida, a Priority Mail 2.5 lb package 36x7x7 can cost over $70.

Mentor2 years agoThese sellers could also be using eBay recommended shipping which generally is based off what similar items have the weight/dimensions as. I know I've assisted several sellers who couldn't understand why their golf club shipping was so high. With golf clubs if then longest dimension is too high it can increase the cost.

eBay has never made it a rule that seller's charge exact shipping costs, they do suggest that shipping and especially handling charges be reasonable. If you have been selling and shipping golf clubs you should know about shipping agencies using DIMensional Weight calculations based on a package's size rather than its actual weight. That's how they could increase costs with out actually asking for or announcing rate increases.
If you are finding clubs listed in the auction format with a very low starting price, that could be an indication of a new or inexperienced seller, who may have a fair number of feedback, but all or mostly for buying in the last year and have a 100% rating. If they are a new one there could be other issues with the sale. Always check a seller's feedback profile page and never go by their feedback percentage alone.
