Shipping costs
Hello, I’m having issues with shipping as a seller. I used another another eBay seller’s shipping quote but notice the box dimensions were different. So after I sold the item and before before I printed my shipping label, I change the dimensions of the box I was using and the shipping went from $10.18 up to $18. 49 just because I put the exact size box. I’m not sure why it almost doubled, the shipping cost. it says now that I’ve purchased the label and can’t change the shipping label. How do you go about complaining about this to eBay? I can’t find any contact numbers for support on this? about getting a change back to $10.18? Thanks for your time I appreciate any input.

Mentor2 years ago@chevyfan0. Shipping prices are based on the package dimensions, weight, and distance to the buyer.
I recommend you use buyer pays > calculated shipping on your future listings. That way the buyer is pays the he correct shipping price to their location.
You'll have to go ahead and ship the item as you can't ask the buyer more for shipping than stated on the listing.
Consider the $8 loss eBay "tuition ". I paid " tuition " on my first sale then I bought a scale and tape measure.

OP2 years agoThanks for the advice. I thought since I measured and weighted the item this time and lowered the weight and the dimensions to actual values I would pay less. Instead it almost doubled.
I always allow e-bay to calculate shipping but in other cases I’m always short of postage when the buyer picks priority shipping thru USPS. I thought those would be considered my “tuition†learning. Never could get them straightened out so now I only offer ground advantage.
i guess I was just trying to do the right thing so that me or the buyer are not over charged postage. I think postage is what scares sellers off of ebay. Thanks Pete

Mentor2 years ago@chevyfan0. I don't know why exactly the price doubled. Did you look at the shipping cost on the other sellers listing for shipping just your location? Also all shipping services charge a dimensional weight surcharge when a package is just an inch over 1 cubic foot.

If you don't use the shipping label you can void it from the shipping label page. Usps will refund you
