Shipping cost was for 1 item but they bought 8 and still got charged to ship one
Hi, thank you, in advance because I really need help.
I posted an item for $5/ plus shipping and handling 8 items at $5/each = $40
In the description, I said that if buying all 8 of the items, I would reduce the price from $40 to $ 30 so that is the first problem. I had hoped the buyer would contact me prior to purchase so I could reduce the price for them but they already paid and they were charged $40.00
I owe them $10 for that
For the item I posted at $5/each, the shipping cost was going to be $7.80 of which they were charged $11.60. I don't know why they were charged/paid more than the cost.
My second problem is that I entered the size and weight to ship one (1) item
size : 15"x12"x1" weight : 1 lb 8 oz
They bought all eight (8) items but they were only charged the shipping cost of one (1) instead of all eight (8) which is basically 15"x12"x10" with a weight of approx thirteen (13) lbs.
According to usps, it is going to cost $22.50 to mail but they were only charged $11.60...
The item is an embroidery kit that cost ~$9 back in 2001. It's similar to kits being sold for $15-30/each but I am charging $5/each or all 8 for $30.
Help me, please. If I cancel, I still get charged all the fees

OP1 year agoI was so upset by the messages from this buyer who was accusing me of not taking responsibility and not honoring the price I posted for items I was selling that I canceled the order and removed my other items that I had posted for sale. I haven't been on ebay since then except to buy an item not too long ago. Nobody responded to my original post asking for help ,so now that I have returned and discovered her negative feedback of me, I'm reposting in hopes of someone offering me some help in understanding what I did wrong.
I remember looking at my sale item and the details and not understanding why only $11.60 was being charged to ship something that was going to cost me double that.
The buyer expected me to ship all 8 items to her and include the $10 I owed her as a discount for buying all 8. If I had followed through, I would have eventually received payment of $7 .50 for 8 items posted at $5/each ($40-$10 discount-$22.50shipping).
I would have done it just so I could be done with it but since I wasn't going to be receiving payment until after she confirmed that the items had been received, I would have had to come up with the $22.50 to cover shipping which I did not have.
The feedback she left for me was:
BEWARE OF THIS SELLER. Won't take responsibility for her auction, wants more money, then gave a sob story about her life and how I wasn't responsive to her predicament. This is a business transaction. Don't sell if you can't conduct honest business. BEWARE.
I reached out to her so many times and explained the problem and when that didn't work, I tried to appeal to her emotions by explaining that I had a spinal injury and was unable to work/earn income and that my mom was supporting me but had died from C19 which is why I was selling personal items. Her response was asking why I was selling items for so little if I needed the money so much. I explained that regardless of my situation, I wanted to be fair and offer items, not for a profit, but for an affordable amount considering the items I was selling were to an older consumer group.
I've been selling on facebook marketplace for local pickup, giving away more than I'm selling but at the end of each transaction, feeling good about myself. I'll be moving from where I live with my brother and his gf to my other brother's house because he believes "we can help each other" but in doing so, I would have to start using ebay again since he doesn't want strangers coming to his house to buy things I have listed for sale.
My 100% good rating is now 67% because of one negative rating I received from this person I've been talking about and since it's been over 90 days, the negative feedback isn't eligible for review.
Any suggestions, as well as any possible explanations for the problem with shipping cost I experienced would be greatly appreciated.

OP2 years agoIt would be in my best interest to cancel the sale. I will still have to pay the ebay fee of $7.56 since it's my fault. I don't know how I would post it so that there wasn't this problem. It just doesn't seem right that the charge for shipping wasn't charged for each item. I can live with giving the items away for so little but I wouldn't have any way of paying for the shipping cost of $22.50 so either way I have to pay out of pocket except the second way I will get reimbursed for the shipping out of the payment for the items once received.
