shipping cost
purchased 5 items from same seller at the same time today, they said would combine shipping
but I was charged tax and shipping cost of 6.99 per item @ 34.95

You can ask the Seller for a refund for the shipping overage per their confirmation that they agreed to Combine the shipping.
However, not knowing what the final package weight and size it is hard to determine exactly what the true shipping cost was.
