Shipping Charges
When shipping an item on Ebay, I'm being charged a higher cost by Fedex than the buyer pays for shipping the item.

Personally if I have an item that is too large or heavy to ship via USPS then I use UPS and buy the label from PIrateship.com. Pirateship helps with insurance claims and surcharge disputes. UPS does have a list of valid surcharges on their website too. UPS does not add surcharges as often as Fed Ex does.
When using Fed Ex on your listings I recommend offering ONLY Fed Ex Home Delivery if you really want to stick with Fed Ex. Do not offer Fed Ex ground economy as it's a hybrid service with USPS. I see that you are offering BOTH on this listing>

If the buyer chooses the less expensive option and then you use the bit more expensive Home Delivery you do pay more. I am not sure if that is the exact problem though.
