Shipping Charges
Often, I list an item and a calculated shipping charge based on size and weight, I lose money on the sale when multiple items are purchased. For example, shipping of a string of lights quantity 1 is $8.94. A customer purchased quantity 16. The shipping charge was calculated by the eBay system to be $23.21; however, the actual charge to me was $89.60 based on size of package and weight when I purchased the label on the eBay site. I lost money on this sale; and, I do not know how to calculate shipping charges in my listing so that doesn't happen again. Any thoughts?

What I recommend is that you use Flat Shipping for MQ items.
Pick a number that is close for one set, and then an amount for each additional.
Ideally use Shipping rules for that.
You will want to set up Shipping Rules and apply those Rules to your listings. You can have:
- Flat rules: For example add $1.00 for each additional item
- Calculated rules: For example - add up all the weights (If you have large items, the SIZE will not adjust for oversize, so I don't recommend calculated rules except for small items)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is how to set up your combined shipping rules:
Set up the Shipping Rules:
Calculated shipping rule "edit"
Select rules for combining weights for purchases with calculated shipping
- Combine all weights
And/or
2) Flat shipping rule "edit"
Select rules for flat shipping costs on combined purchases
- Add x.00 per each additional
(You can have several of these rules.)
Next, you need to ADD the combined shipping rule to each listing you want it to apply to. (in your listing or by bulk edit)
** Calculated Shipping rules only adds up all the weight. It does not account for dimensions. This is why flat rules work better.
Than ADD the Shipping Rules to each listing you want it to apply to.
TIP: This image from eBay's help pages will show you where the Shipping Rule is
Examples:
This method will allow buyers to buy two items from listing A and pay $10 +$1
AND
This method will allow buyers to buy one item from listing A and one item from listing B and pay $10 +$1
It will be $1 for each additional for multiples
