shipping charges
I sold a rather large item and entered the size and weight for shipping. Ebay charged $100 shipping based on my info but the actual shipping came to over $300. So I took a loss on the item I sold. I don't understand how that happended.

If it was the Shoulder Mount 10 Point Mule Deer Real Antler Buck Taxidermy then I suspect
-Did you use Calculated shipping or Flat rate? It looks like FedEx was the designated carrier.
-What was the weight on the original listing?
-What were the dimensions on the original listing?
-What was the ACTUAL weight of the packed item?
-What were the ACTUAL dimensions of the packed item?
While there are regular threads about FedEx overcharging the first thing to check is the before and after weight and box dimensions as asked above. I know the box you used would put the package in any carrier's Dimensional weight bracket which can double and triple the shipping charges.
If you don't know how to get the original weight and dimensions go to the item in your Sold file and use the pull down menu on the left and select Sell Similar, this creates a duplicate listing of the original listing and you can check the weight and dimensions you used. (You can "save for later" and the duplicate listing will move to your Draft file and you can Delete the listing from there.)
Compare those with the actual weights and my guess is that there is a difference.
