I was recently charged over $80 to ship something that is not my responsibility. The package was no way over 35 lb. I am not happy with eBay taking money out of my account. The free shipping label was already paid for

OP1 week agoEveryone is missing the point, no way a golf club weighs over 30 pounds. Something went wrong

Mentor1 week ago · Edited@blackbirdframing We are not missing the point... we are trying to explain dimensional weight surcharges and offer advice on how to dispute with the carrier. Dimensional weight is what makes the "weight" of the package higher than actual weight.
Dimensional weight (DIM weight) is a pricing method that shipping carriers use to charge for the volume a package occupies rather than its actual physical weight.
Carriers bill you for whichever is greater: the actual scale weight or the dimensional weight. This ensures they are fairly paid when a large box weighs very little but takes up a lot of space in a truck or plane.
I need to know WHICH shipping carrier you used so I can advise you how to try to dispute the surcharge. You have to dispute with the shipping carrier, not eBay.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

OP1 week agoIt was a label that i printed out from the Ebay portal in my account and it was with the USPS. I sent out the same golf club to another customer and it was fine with the shipping label that Ebay provided. How is it that one driver weighed in at a normal weight and another over 30 lbs?

Mentor1 week ago@blackbirdframing Drivers do not weigh and measure your packages, this is done by the automated sorting equipment the post office. That is how the APV system works.
"Automated Package Verification (APV): If you printed a shipping label (via Click-N-Ship or a third-party postage provider) and the package's actual weight, dimensions, mail class, or shipping zone differed from what you declared, USPS automatically adjusts the cost and charges or credits your account."
The other packages may NOT have been caught OR the charges on this one are incorrect.
You will have to dispute this with USPS. Here's how to dispute>>
To check on shipping labels, go here: https://www.ebay.com/ship/lmng
Some of your shipping labels have cost adjustments.
If you think these adjustments are incorrect, you can contact USPS Customer Care at 1-844-819-5187 or verifypostagehelp@usps.gov to open a dispute. Make sure you have the IMPB and Revenue Assurance ID below to identify the adjustment. USPS will respond within 5-15 business days.

Mentor1 week ago@blackbirdframing Your shipping was not in the prepaid program so the labels were not "provided". The buyer paid you the shipping price you asked on the listing then you purchased the label. It is the sellers responsibility to research shipping methods carefully.
I know that this can be confusing but the shipping price is based on the package dimesions in addition to the weight as @lady_madonna stated. There are surcharges for long packages.
You can try disputing the surcharge with the shipping company. If it was USPS how to dispute is in the email that notified you of the adjustment.
Let me know if it was UPS or Fed Ex instead and I can provide info on how to dispute with them.

OP1 week agoA shipping label was privided. I shipped 3 golf clubs to 3 different people. 2 went well, for some reason one was weighed at over 30lbs, thus the $80 plus charge.
Simething went wrong and I want my $80 back

Mentor1 week ago · EditedAs the seller, you are responsible for paying the shipping costs to ship the item to the buyer. If it was a large package or irregularly shaped package, you could have been charged something called a dimensional charge instead of the costs being solely based on weight.
You will not be able to get your money back from Ebay since you were required to pay the shipping charges, nor can you dispute it.
