SHIPPING AND COMMUNICATION
Can someone answer me as to the policy that ebay has on communication and advertise shipping dates?
Frankly I am sick and tired of sellers posting a delivery date and not getting on the advertised delivery date.
This needs to stop, ebay is not doing anything to these sellers so they continue to do this. If this does get corrected ebay will no longer have my business.
honestly ebay doesn't seem to care about their customers all they care is about the money that comes in.
Ebay fix this problem ASAP or you will lose me as a customer.

Mentor1 year ago@michaequintan1,
One thing @mr_lincoln left out of their first post is that ebay's estimated delivery date does not always conform with the estimated delivery dates posted by the Shipping agencies. Ergo Estimated delivery dates.
If you have received tracking numbers for the purchases open the tracking info. If the seller got a package into the hands of their shipping agency, (acceptance scan) within their handling time. They have fulfilled their obligation to ship by X/Y/date. After that it is out of the seller's and ebay's hands.
Do keep in mind when making purchases, that if you buy an item after business hours, on a weekend day or national/postal holiday in the seller's location that the seller's handling time starts on the next "Business" day.
Since you do buy from some foreign sellers, keep in mind that packages may be held up in customs for various reasons, before being turned over to the domestic shipper for final delivery. Those shipments are given the domestic tracking number on ebay, not the international shipper's number.

Mentor1 year ago@michaequintan1. eBay does care about on time shipping that is why buyers can file a refund request for item not received when it's one day past the last estimated delivery date.
Keep in mind that sellers have no control over postal service delays that can occur especially around the holidays.
Not received refund requests do go on a sellers record.
Sorry your purchase didn't go smoothly.
If your package is late arriving this is what you do to receive a refund:
Look for the last estimated delivery date in your purchase history. You can file a refund request when the item is at least a day late. If tracking shows movement I recommend waiting a week or so for postal service delays.
You have 30 days from the last estimated delivery date to file a refund request on eBay.
Select your item on this page to start a refund request:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/get-help-item-hasnt-arrived?id=4042&st=
4 business days after you file the refund request ask eBay to step in and help if the seller has not refunded you.
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701
If it is more than 30 days past the last estimated delivery date then you can file a refund request on PayPal up to 180 days from the date of purchase. OR if you didn't use PayPal at checkout contact your bank or credit card to report that you didn't receive the item.

OP1 year agoI get what your saying , but, to be honest, I don't care to wait 2 weeks for a package that might or might not arrive. Time is money.
What your telling me that I wait that week and if the package is not at my location I can ask for a refund? Really a week waisted? Oh wait your also telling me that if I ask for the refund on the day after and the item is in transit, I have to wait another week to get here or not. So if it doesn't get here then what now. Get in contact with ebay and they say I have to resolve with the seller? Oh wait there's more. The seller will try to settle with a partial refund on an item that hasn't arrived? Then you email back and forth till the full refund is given. Hummmm? Let's do the math. 1 week for possible delivery.
Request for refund 1 or 2 days response if lucky.
1 week of waiting period for maybe , maybe get the item.
1 to x amount of days for a reply if the item has not gotten here for a refund.
Think about it, how much time has been lost with this purchase? At least 3 to 4 weeks. Not acceptable in anyone's book.
I could have bought it from a different platform and gotten it sooner, without all this circus act.
Thank you , you helped me make my mind up, this will be my last time dealing with ebay.

Mentor1 year agoHi @michaequintan1
The estimated delivery date is generated by eBay NOT the Seller but is influenced by, among other things, the Seller's shipping method that they offer, their Handling time and their historical record of how quickly they ship. Many Sellers sell on eBay as a side hustle, work out of their homes and don't always ship promptly due to other responsibilities.
I am not sure what you are purchasing but there are plenty of Sellers who ship on time and then it is up to the carrier to deliver within their promised time frame.
I assume you know that you only have to wait one day past the original estimated delivery date to file a claim via the item(s) in your purchase history that you have not received the item. The steps on the claim can lead to an eventual refund.

OP1 year agoLincoln,
I understand what your saying but, is not my responsibility to set the date for delivery. If you sell in a platform like eBay and say delivery xyc date then you as a seller suppose to honor that.
Not only as a seller you lose your reputation as a good seller but also your seen as a unresponsive seller.
Hey I get it as a side hustle, don't do it if your not responsible. I sent an email 3 days ago sent it again yesterday and today and no response.
Absolutely unacceptable in my eyes. A business is run by your customers buying your products, customer service is key to that business, I know , I own my business. You can ask any of my customers who we are.
The return or cancelation take way to long. Ebay is fast to take the money but super slow for a refund.
I think I am done with ebay , this will be my last purchase until they fix these issues.

Mentor1 year agoGo to your Purchase History and locate the purchased item. What is the last estimated delivery date? You have up to 30 days past that date in order to file an Item Not Received case, to get your money back.
If it is past the 30 day limit, you will need to log into Paypal and file an Item Not Received case there, if that is how you paid, as they allow up to 180 days from date of purchase to file, to get your money back.
If you paid with a credit card, file a charge back with your credit card issuer.

I agree 100% from a business standpoint, I am winding down my own business outside eBay so I understand and know what good customer service is. I am sorry you have been buying from Sellers who are not as responsive as you would like.

Thank you for young understanding. I really hope ebay gets better at this.
I bought many items from ebay in the past, but, since 5 years ago ebay seems not to care about their buyers.
Lately I bought a few items here and there and has gotten frustrating.
As a seller as yourself that took your time to clarify somethings, I know I can rely on you for communication.
Thank you

When I got into industry I installed computer scales throughout North America. When I was hired as a Service Engineer our manager made it very clear that Sales gets the first sale but Service gets Repeat business. When I got in to selling equipment in the same industry keeping a delivery schedule by the machine manufacturers was extremely critical because customers would block out manufacturing time and resources to install new equipment. If a machine ran late, whether it was a day or a month, it had negative financial impacts on the entire project ... not to mention a series of VERY unpleasant conversations replete with numerous colorful expletives.
For myself here on eBay I get regular Feedback from my customers that mention "Fast shipping" ... if fast shipping was the norm for most Sellers I suspect they would not bother mentioning that, it would simply be expected. But to your experience in the categories you purchase in the sellers simply may not be that responsive. I'm' sure you aren't talking about something being just a day late but much longer ... or never shipped at all.
I am making an intuitive leap here, you must do auto repair for your own business or one you work for ... if that is the case then timely delivery is key to you providing excellent service to your customers. If eBay Sellers can;t deliver on time it makes perfectly good sense for you to take your business elsewhere ...

OP1 year agoThat is 100% correct. Time is very precious in this line of business. Actually is mostly motorcycles.
I don't know if you own one , but , motorcycles are the toys of all.
It is a must to have the parts asap.
As you stated " If a machine ran late, whether it was a day or a month, it had negative financial impacts on the entire project ... not to mention a series of VERY unpleasant conversations replete with numerous colorful expletives"
Ultimately a good communication with your buyer is key, some understand some don't is your job to make them a repeated customer.

Haven't ridden for years but still have my cycle license, in our state it automatically renews with the drivers license. Back in the early 80s I did a 2 week project with an engineering firm at the Harley plant in York, PA ... the old plant. We were doing layout work rearranging manufacturing cells during a time when they were switching from their inventory system to on demand model manufacturing ... meaning a roadster and a touring bike could be IN production on the line at the same time opposed to them setting up to make 20 Roadsters then setting up to do 10 touring bikes. I walked through their show room every day on my way to the engineering department ...
