Shipping Address Issue with UPS
Summary: danfo8518 is seeking advice regarding an issue with UPS, where a package they shipped to a customer had an incomplete address, causing delivery delays. The buyer updated the address, but the status remains unchanged on UPS tracking. After contacting UPS, danfo8518 was advised to file a claim, despite no indications of the package being lost. They are questioning if submitting the claim was the right move and if they need to take further action on eBay, while expressing their inexperience with such situations.
Good morning!
Earlier this month, I shipped an expensive product to a customer via UPS. Apparently UPS tried to deliver the package last week, but they said the address was incomplete (needed an apartment number). The buyer updated their address information on the UPS website last Thursday. As of yesterday, the tracking number stated that the address change was still being requested (with no delivery update). I called UPS and they told me to submit a claim so that they could locate the package, which I thought was weird because nothing on the tracking information told me the package was lost. I submitted the claim and was hoping to find out if:
A) I made the right decision by submitting the claim
and
B) Is there anything I need to do on the eBay side other than keeping in contact with buyer through the whole process?
I tried to reach out to live support, but apparently it's not an option at the moment. I'm also still a bit of a rookie when it comes to shipping stuff with eBay. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Dan

I would ask for the item to be returned to you if it is a sizeable sale.
You lose your seller protection when the address is changed from the address on the order.
