OP4 months agoThanks for the additional information.
I was able to file the complaint/claim from the regular
customer service route.
My local postmaster said that this false
tracking information is happening quite
a bit in our area. He said these turds
get legit tracking information somehow
for a different item, but within your
zip code. They then send me a legit
tracking number but to someone else
at the same zip code, different name.
FedEx guy said they are having this
problem often. He was able to pull
up the correct recipient and correct
address without an issue. Of course
he couldn't share that with me. I was nowhere
in their records.
I have to wait 4 days now before contacting
Ebay again.
Your assistance has calmed my nerves. Thank you.

OP4 months agoThanks for the response. First thing like this I have encountered in decades
of Ebay purchases. I will let you know what happens . I am hoping for the best. I can't do anything on Instagram, hope that isn't a problem.
Fingers crossed.

Let me know what happens.
If you can't access instagram, after to do steps 1 and 2, try regular customer service. Just don't open an 'Item Not Received' case, that will fail.
-- How to Have eBay Call You --
There is no incoming phone number for buyers or sellers. If you want a call back from eBay Customer Service, here is how to get a call:
Start at an article close to your question (you can look from here: https://www.ebay.com/help/home)
Scroll to the Bottom of the page similar to your question
1) Click "Contact Us" or the ? then:
In the CHAT WINDOW
2) Type "I need help"
3) Click "Selling" (or your topic)
4) Type "Agent" in the chat window
5) You may need to click "Something Else" or "More Options" or type "Agent" a few more times
6) Click “Have Us Call You” (or "Chat with an Agent")
-- If you use a call filter on your phone, turn it off temporarily, or it might block the incoming call.

I'm sorry that happened.
1) First, call the Fedex to see if the tracking number label contained your name and your address. (They won't tell you whose name *is* on the package, only that your name and address *is not*.)
b) If your name and address weren't on that label, ask the Fedex if they will put this in writing; it's helpful, but not required. Also, ask for the weight of the package using that tracking number. Follow the rest of the steps starting with 2 below:
FOR FEDEX
You can usually find the weight and other details for FedEx here:
https://www.fedex.com/en-us/tracking.html
Then click 'View More Details' to see the package weight. Screenshot that.
2) Then, report the seller using this process
https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022
Important, select "Suspicious seller activity"
then "Other"
Explain that the seller is using fake tracking numbers
Include these phrases
Don't write a novel, it's initially being read by a computer, that's why I want you to use those 3 specific phrases in the message.
3) Finally, contact Customer Service and inform them that the seller uploaded a "false tracking number" on your purchase. Share any documentation you gathered. Request a refund.
Use the Customer Service that is on Instagram this way:
Send a private direct message to the page. Explain you have a fake or false tracking number situation.
Let me know how this goes, I've been burned a few times myself (including on Amazon), but I have been able to get a refund following this process.
There are additional steps to take if the above isn't effective, just come back and update me.
