Shipping
I have a vintage lead crystal vase that I sold. To pack it to ensure that it isn't damaged to go across the US, the shipping charge is double the $18 charged at payout. I am not comfortable sending it with anything less than secure, protective packaging. Is it appropriate to offer the buyer to cover the add'l $18 or offer a refund?

You can not require the buyer pay more for shipping than what they have already paid. If you underestimated the cost of shipping, you are responsible for the difference.
You needed to determine the exact shipping cost before you listed your item on Ebay.
In the future, weigh and measure the prepackaged item and enter those details into the Ebay shipping calculator.

OP1 year agoI am going to repack tomorrow. I am just gun shy as I had one that Fed Ex looked like they slammed on the edge of a step.

The item should have been prepackaged when you listed the item to make sure your shipping cost matches what the buyer pays
