Shipping
I just sold something. The buyer paid for shipping and then eBay also charged me for shipping. Why does eBay charge both the buyer and seller for shipping?

Mentor2 years agoThe buyer pays eBay an amount that covers the item, shipping and sales tax.
The sales tax goes to the buyer's state. eBay takes out its fee from the total amount the buyer pays, then passes along the remaining balance to the seller.
The seller uses a portion of the proceeds (which includes what the buyer paid for shipping minus fees) to purchase a shipping label from the shipping service.
The seller has to purchase the shipping label since the seller is the one with a package that needs to be shipped.
