Ship to Adress Incorrect -- No Possible Resolution as Seller?
Summary: culture.detritus is experiencing issues with eBay's shipping label system due to a buyer's name exceeding the character limit on the address. Even after abbreviating the name and ensuring the address is formatted correctly, they are unable to purchase a shipping label or resolve the error. rfmtm suggests abbreviating the name, but the problem persists despite this adjustment. culture.detritus is concerned about losing seller protections and missing out on the sale.
Hello!
A buyer has entered an incorrect address (the stated issue from eBay is that their name is over 40 characters). When I manually change it by moving a line down, the error persists. I am unable to buy a shipping label. This is very frustrating. Not only will I lose seller protections, I cannot even get this workaround to work. No matter how many ways I edit the "ship to" address, it says there is an issue and there are no shipping options. I have googled the address and it is legitimate and correctly entered. I feel like I'm going to lose out on a great sale because of this. Any advice?

Mentor3 weeks agoIf the address is correct and only the name needs modified abbreviate what you can. The name is not what triggers protection only the address.

OP3 weeks agoThanks! I have changed the name to be short enough and it still says there is an error. I have confirmed the address is correctly formatted according to USPS. No matter what, eBay says I cannot purchase a label and there's an issue.

Mentor2 weeks agoIf you are sure the format of the address part matches exactly the USPS version, then that's not the problem. Are you sure you have selected an appropriate service for the category, weight and size of the item?
Regardless, open a free PirateShip account, link it to ebay, and print from there.
