Shill bidding
The crystal and rock shops on eBay out of China are using SHILL BIDDING procedures that should be illegal on eBay. They have lost my business and I would hope eBay would do something about it.

Mentor6 months agoAll bidder's identities are masked, whereby Ebay shows the bidders as "1***4", a***d", etc. , the same as yours would show to other Ebay members.
If you are seeing "private listing...bidders identities hidden", it means that it is a private listing set up by the seller, and has nothing to do with the bidders.
It is NOT a wise move to contact sellers to accuse them of shill bidding.
If you are suspicious, maybe refrain from bidding on items located in China?
