selling shoes

Question

I do not normally sell on EBAY, but I have had to buy a bigger shoe size, and I have several pairs of shoes I want to sell to recoup some of my money. I have the boxes for the shoes. I just do not know what I should charge for shipping and what shipping service I should use. The shoes are not expensive (New Balance, Under Armor type shoes) so I do not want to lose money on the shipping. Thanks for any help.

You will need a scale to weigh the packaged item, with any bubble wrap and tissue you plan to use, and measure the dimensions of the package. Include that information when you create the listing, using Calculated Shipping. I would suggest using USPS Ground Advantage. ebay will then calculate the cost of shipping from your zip code to the buyer's zip code. That way, you do not lose any money in the shipping. I suggest you find boxes to use for shipping so they will be available when the shoes are sold. Many retail stores will gladly give you boxes that their inventory is delivered in, or you can go dumpster diving for them. The post office has free boxes, but they can only be used for Priority shipping, and that will cost more than Ground Advantage.
