Selling Price
Hello everyone! So, I've had a situation where I have an item listed for a certain price and a buyer contacted me with a lower offer. If I'm willing to sell the item at that price, how does that work? Do I need to edit the listing to reflect the price that the buyer and I have agreed upon?

OP7 months agoThank you both for your suggestions. I will look into the Make an Offer option. Seems like less work.

If your items are priced to cover cost, eBay fees and your target profit margin there is no reason to take less for them. If you turn Best offer on to me it send the message that your price is not your price.
I have NEVER used Best offer, all it does is drive prices down. Sure, I get the occasional messaged offer but I typically reply that the price or starting auction price is the lowest I can accept to cover cost, eBay fees and profit margin. It never hurst to ask and in my Description I have "Questions welcome" so I don't get bent out of shape even if a messaged offer is insulting low. I think too many Buyers think the price isn't the price if they've gotten things using the Best offer process.

If you want to accept offers, you should check the box in the listing form to add Make an Offer to your listing.
For this transaction, you can either edit the listing to add the option or you can edit the price. Either way is fine.

I assume you do not have best offer enabled on your listing, so yes, you would edit the item to lower the price. Then the buyer can purchase it at the lower price
