Selling on Ebay and Payment Hold Notifications
I've been an Ebay member going on 6 years now. I'm an infrequent seller, but a very active buyer who has also carried an active PayPal account also for 6 years. I decided to list one item for sale on Ebay, with an emphasis on payments accepted through PayPal only. The item sold, but I got a message from Ebay that my payment was on hold until I surrendered all my banking information, driver's license info, social security number, bank info, etc. When I registered both my Ebay and PayPal accounts, all that information was given and stored at the time I signed up so I canceled the sale because I'm not jumping through these hoops all over again and having to wait until October 25th to get paid for information these people already have. I'm surprised that Ebay wasn't requesting a blood sample, but I digress. This experience has left a bad taste in my mouth compounded by the fact you can't talk to a real human being about these issues and get them resolved. I'm giving serious consideration to permanently closing my Ebay account and just shop Amazon, Temu, and Alibaba.

There were significant changes on eBay since the last time you sold … so you were asked to update your account in order to receive a payment.
I’m sorry that bringing your account up to date feels like ‘giving blood’ … when you were simply asked to do what every other active seller has done.
Please feel free to shop wherever you wish. Nobody should have to feel that they’re demanded to give blood.

OP10 months agoWhen I changed credit unions, all my accounts were made current and that was in the last few months. I'm not begging Ebay to do business with them.

Mentor10 months agoUnless you give that information to eBay, you won't be able to sell on eBay.
eBay no longer allows sellers to accept Paypal only. They require sellers to use eBay Managed Payments.
Registering as a seller | eBay
Getting paid for items you've sold | eBay
Buyers have multiple choices to pay through eBay Managed Payments, but sellers must have a registered checking account to get paid.
There are laws that require eBay to collect SSN and identity such as a driver's license.
It is your choice not to provide the information but that also means you cannot sell.

OP10 months agoUnless you missed what I already said in my post, Ebay WAS given all that information TWICE!
It wasn't a matter of my choice not to provide the information, they ALREADY had it but were too stupid to use it.
If you can't read a post correctly, you're no better than Ebay and have no business responding.
