Selling jewelry question

If I sell an eligible jewelry item for $15,000, and the item is lost or damaged after eBay’s authentication facility receives it but before it reaches the buyer, will eBay reimburse the seller for the full sale proceeds if the item can not be returned or is damaged? If so, what specific policy provides that reimbursement, and are there any dollar limits or exclusions? I know that the buyer is covered, but it seems like the seller would be out the jewelry item as well as any reimbursement if the item was damaged.

Mentor2 weeks agoIf the item is damaged during shipping, the seller can file a claim for damage with the shipping service.
Seller will have to provide photos of the damaged item and packaging to the shipping service which the buyer will have to send to the seller in order for the seller to file the claim.

Do you know how or if the seller would be reimbursed for any damages or even loss while the item is at the facility? It seems as though only the buyer would be reimbursed and not the seller for any damages done to the jewelry

Mentor2 weeks agoIf the item is being shipped from the authenticator to the buyer and they claim damage you would need to contact eBay customer service for a determination from eBay according to the information in the Authentication Guaranty FAQ.

OP2 weeks agoThank you for the response. I do know that when the item is shipped from the facility to the buyer insurance is added on shipping to cover the item. eBay’s Money Back Guarantee covers the buyer. Should any damage or loss happen while AT the facility, (from what I have read) only the buyer is reimbursed, not the seller. Does eBay or GIA offer anything that would cover any damage or loss for the seller while at the facility (not during shipping).?
