Selling cost
Hi, I’m new, never sold before. I have a metal rail weighing 12 lbs box size 8x18x27. I’d like to send it flat rate but when I search shipping cost the spread is 25 to $95 and more. I’m thinking the higher cost is to Hawaii or Alaska but when I eliminate those areas it doesn’t change the rates. Shouldn’t the rate be lower after eliminating these areas. Why doesn’t it reflect the change

Why do you want to list flat rate? Why not use calculated shipping so that the buyer pays the correct amount based on his location? On a heavier package, flat rate will penalize local buyers.
Where are you seeing the range of prices? If it is on the preview while you’re creating the listing, I doubt that it looks at exclusions in your shipping locations.
You can use the shipping calculator to get a better range of costs - enter a zip near you and then far to see the difference in costs. I’m in IL, so I use a NY or WA zip to see the high end. https://www.ebay.com/shp/calc/rates
