Selling antique perfume bottles
Today I got a notice that one of my listings has been hidden due to policy violations. It is a 100 year old bottle perfume bottle that is partially full of perfume. I am not selling the perfume, only the bottle. Is this no longer allowed?

If there is perfume in the bottle pour it out, the bottle should be listed EMPTY. You are trying to split hairs with saying you are selling the bottle but not the perfume, the perfume is IN the bottle so therefore you are selling it.

OP10 months agoThis seems to be a new policy as I've been selling perfume bottles for over 20 years on ebay and many have had perfume inside. I wasn't trying to split hairs, just wanting to know whether the policy has now changed. The rule used to be you could sell it with perfume as long as it was listed as a collectable and you weren't marketing the perfume. I can't imagine who would want 100 year old perfume. If I can't get the stopper out, does that mean I'm just out of luck selling this item?

I don't have the chronology of this particular policy and any changes that may or may not have happened over the years. It very easily could have been different in years past, I won't dispute that. Many things have changed over time. The policy in its present form is all I know and have been using it in this way for as long as I can remember.
Yes, if you cannot empty the perfume contents then it cannot be sold on eBay.
